2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift launch in India expected in June quarter

Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up to introduce the new Swift in the country. According to our sources, the popular hatchback will enter the market in this quarter only (April-June).

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift, in its fourth-generation avatar, was first showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. The car has been seen undergoing road tests in India also.

In its new avatar, the Swift has an updated front with a redesigned grille and headlights. There are boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper has been redesigned and houses new fog lamps. The side profile of the car looks, more or less, similar to the present model on sale in India. Though the alloy wheels are new.

At the rear, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift boasts new LED taillamps. The rear bumper has been redone along with the tailgate. A significant update is the placement of a camera each on the grille, tailgate and ORVMs, pointing towards the addition of a 360-degree camera set-up.

The cabin of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is inspired by the current model line-up of the company. The climate control unit and the infotainment system have been borrowed from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The steering wheel remains the same.

The Swift concept, showcased at Japan Mobility Show 2023, had ADAS and ventilated front seats. We do not expect the India-spec Swift to have these features at the time of the introduction as their inclusion would result in a hefty price jump for the car. The instrument panel remains an analogue unit.

At present, the Swift employs the 1.2-litre K-Series Dual-Jet Dual-VVT engine, which develops 90PS and 113Nm. The engine can be paired either with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. There is also a CNG option with a manual transmission. The car has a claimed mileage of 22.38kmpl for the petrol MT, 22.56kmpl for the petrol AMT and 30.90kmpkg for the CNG.

It remains to be seen whether the 1.2-litre K-Series Dual-Jet Dual-VVT engine is carried over to the new Swift or it is updated for even better fuel efficiency.

The Swift is priced between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom) at present. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift price will be higher than that of the current model.
