First quarter sales results for Stellantis are in and they’re 10 percent lower than they were in 2023. That figure takes into account the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo brands. Digging a little deeper into the numbers reveals some big wins, some surprising losses, and some predictable results as well.The downturn in sales comes mostly from big dips from Ram and Dodge.

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is the production version of the brand’s Charger Daytona SRT Concept that debuted in 2022. The concept was a mostly production-ready version of the brand’s first-ever electric muscle car, and the Charger Daytona didn’t stray too far from the concept’s clean-shaven yet bulbous design. The front has a Dodge-patented and vintage-inspired R-Wing front bumper design to enhance battery cooling while improving downforce, while the rear features a “Ring of Fire” LED taillight design. The brand’s Fratzog logo returns for the Charger Daytona after appearing on a handful of Dodge production cars between the early ’60s and the mid-70s. The 2024 Charger Daytona is longer, wider, and marginally taller than the outgoing Charger while having a more extended 121-inch wheelbase. It will come in eight curated paint colors: Destroyer Grey, Peel Out, Diamond Black, Redeye, White Knuckle, Triple Nickel, and Bluedicrous. With the EV segment caught in a tug-of-war between market demand and government regulations, carmakers are having to adapt to avoid losing both money and sales. Stellantis is keeping every option on the table, including putting a gasoline engine in its electric models.
Dodge has added its products to the Mopar Vehicle Protection (MVP) plans with its Dodge Complete Performance Vehicle Protection Package. It appears to combine an extended warranty with aspects of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle perks like trip insurance and rental cars, but the MVP are only available on cars bought new. The coverage doesn't need to be added at the time of sale, though. Buyers have four months or 5,000 miles to pay for a Dodge Complete Performance Vehicle Protection Package for vehicles that are still under their original factory warranty.
Dodge already said it is launching the 2024 Charger Daytona in entry-level R/T trim and a more powerful Scat Pack trim. Mopar Insiders' dealer contacts gave the outlet a look at order guides for the coupe and sedan, revealing there will be five variants of these two trims — two for the R/T and three for the Scat Pack. According to the guides, the First Editions will only offer three exterior colors: Diamond Black, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle. Starting with the R/T, as previously announced, they come with the eStage 1 Upgrade that adds 40 horsepower in PowerShot mode, taking peak output to 496 hp and 404 pound-feet of torque. The base configuration will come with the Demonic Red Seats with red and silver stitching and perforated inserts. Also standard is the Plus Group of heated and ventilated leather front seats and heated back seats, interior ambient lighting, a 16-inch gauge cluster, LED headlights with a full-width LED light bar, and illuminated door handles. Outside, the car sits on 20-inch aluminum wheels.
