In March 2024, Chinese car sales accounted for 33% of the world’s monthly 8.15 million vehicle sales, according to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). In the first quarter of 2024, 21.05 million vehicles have been sold worldwide, a year-on-year increase of 3%.
BYD, the Chinese automaker known for its electric vehicles, is set to make a global debut of its new pickup truck, the BYD Shark, in Mexico on May 14th. Today BYD released official interior pictures of its Sea Lion 07, an SUV competitor to the Tesla Model Y. With an MIIT listing months ago the car must be now ready to begin sales and an announcement may well be made at this week’s Beijing Auto Show.
