Executive types in China like being driven around, putting a premium on rear-seat legroom. Audi has long catered to these desires with its range of lengthened L models, and the latest addition to the stable is the Q6L e-tron.
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. — The Audi Q4 E-Tron doesn’t seem to get the attention it probably deserves. Perhaps because it looks so much like other small Audi crossovers, it blends into the crowd and is falsely assumed to be like the Mercedes EQB – the electric version of an ICE car. It isn’t. The Q4 E-Tron is built on a dedicated electric platform (dubbed MEB, it’s shared with the ID.4 and other electric Volkswagens), and benefits as a result. Its unique, high-quality, space-efficient interior boasts a big back seat for its size and lots of clever storage. The driving experience is also just as refined as you’d expect from an Audi.
Audi has updated its Q4 e-tron electric SUV for fans of the brand with the four rings. Buyers can look forward to a horsepower increase, revised suspension and steering tuning, quicker DC fast charging, and a mild styling refresh with new 21-inch wheel designs. Standard interior features include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, split-folding 40/20/40 rear seatbacks, and a panoramic sunroof. The range-topping Q4 55 e-tron Prestige has an augmented reality heads-up display, animated headlights and taillights, Matrix-design LED headlamps, a heated windshield, and a SONOS premium stereo. Driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control with lane guidance, blind spot monitoring, park assist, and front automatic emergency
Audi showed the refreshed 2024 Q8 that's coming to our market at the end of last October, and the refreshed 2025 Audi Q7 for U.S. consumption at the end of last month. Neither model made changes to its powertrains. In Europe, though, Audi's just revealed two plug-in hybrid powertrains for the Q7 and Q8 that return the PHEV to the market. In 2019, the Ingolstadt brand announced the 2020 Q7 PHEV, but global production issues soon saw it pulled off the market when Audi had to prioritize components. The two new PHEVs pick up the banner and make big improvements on the last efforts.
Now that that 2025 Porsche Taycan is out offering a larger battery and four-figure horsepower, and a trick suspension, and the capability to set lap records at famous tracks, the sibling Audi E-Tron waits in the wings to take the stage. Based on reviews of an early prototype, Audi engineers ladled in more performance and then finessed the delivery of that performance. More powerful motors are going to deliver more horsepower, the final figure's up for debate; Autocar believes 700 hp is the likely tally, Car magazine thinks 800 hp is the real number — both of those requiring the car's Boost function to hit. Either would make an impact compared to the 523 hp in the E-Tron GT and 637 hp in the RS E-Tron GT. Based on reports that Audi will add the word «Performance» to the model name, 800 hp seems a more worthy figure. The Taycan Turbo, after all, got a raise from 616 hp to 871 hp.
The Audi e-tron GT – originally introduced in 2021 – is about to receive its mid-lifecycle update, following the example of the closely-related Porsche Taycan. Before the debut of the facelifted model, Audi showed a prototype, previewing the mild exterior tweaks. More important upgrades are expected under the skin, including stronger electric motors, faster charging capabilities, a more sophisticated active suspension system, and the addition of a new RS Performance flagship trim.The Audi e-tron GT prototype shown in the official photos doesn’t wear any kind of camouflage, with the fancy livery being the only thing that differentiates it from the final production model.
The second-generation Audi Q7 has been around for a very long time, and yet I'm pretty sure I've never driven one. Shrug. Sometimes new cars fall through the cracks and just stay there. Thankfully, this SQ7 with red leather emerged from between the couch cushions. I'm honestly a bit stunned by how good the steering is for a big SUV and how cool its sport exhaust sounds. No surprise that its Bang & Olufsen sound system sounds terrific.
