The 641 HP Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Could Be Hiding Under This Early Prototype

After reports surfaced about the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, our spy photographers captured what appears to be an early development prototype of this high-performance EV. Serving as the sedan counterpart to the Ioniq 5 N, it is anticipated to deliver even greater performance, capitalizing on its low-slung silhouette and the expertise of the Hyundai N division.The test mule was spotted testing in Germany, showcasing wider tracks and provisional fender extensions. It also sports a new set of black alloy wheels with red calipers, suggesting an upgraded braking system.

However, the production Ioniq 6 N is anticipated to be equipped with a more aggressive body kit, akin to the Ioniq 5 N. It wouldn’t be surprising if Hyundai designers took some bold cues, drawing inspiration from the R22e concept, which was also based on the Ioniq 6.

Additionally, the model could incorporate Hyundai’s active skirts, enhancing aerodynamics even further. The Ioniq 6 N is anticipated to inherit the powertrain of the Ioniq 5 N. The latter features dual electric motors that deliver a combined output of 601 horsepower (448 kW / 609 PS) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque.

However, power output can be temporarily increased to 641 horsepower (478 kW / 650 PS) for up to 10 seconds when the N Grin Boost is engaged. Energy is supplied by an 84 kWh battery pack, a component that was recently incorporated into the facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5 range in Korea.A range of N-specific advanced electronics, designed to elevate the driving experience both on and off the track, will certainly find their way into the Ioniq 6 N. This includes the N e-shift function, which regulates motor torque to emulate the jolt experienced between shifts of an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
