Skoda Superb returns to India as CBU, priced at Rs 54 lakh

Skoda Auto India has relaunched its flagship sedan — the Superb in India. This marks the return of the popular luxury sedan after it was discontinued owing to BS6.2 norms. Unlike before, the Superb is now a CBU and is available in a single trim level — the Laurin & Klement (L&K) which is priced at Rs 54 lah (ex-showroom), making it a almost a 50 per cent jump over the Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag which it sold for earlier.

Speaking on the launch announcement, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, «The third generation Superb has been instrumental in shaping the new design language of Skoda since its launch in 2015. The Superb has seen tremendous success and was the best-seller in its segment in India. We have more than 57,000 happy Superb customers in the country across all three generations of the car. As before, the Skoda Superb is offered with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine which produces 190bhp and 320Nm of torque and comes paired solely with a 7-speed DSG. This engine is compliant with the BS6 phase 2 norms, which was what prompted the discontinuation of the Superb last year.

The L&K is the fully-loaded top-spec trim of the Superb and the sedan comes with a long list of features including a 9-inch infotainment display with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 10.2-inch instrument display. The front seats are 12-way electrically adjustable, with the driver also getting massage and memory function. There is three-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a 610W Canton audio system with 11-speakers and 1-subwoofer.

Skoda has also added the Dynamic Chassis Control which comes with four pre-set modes and on individual mode to the Superb. It also gets LED headlamps with washers, LED fog lamps with cornering function, dynamic LED turn indicators, Active Chassis Control and TPMS.
