Polestar 3 Production Is Officially Underway

The Polestar 3 has officially entered production, with the first examples rolling off the production line in Chengdu, China.

It's the first Polestar vehicle to be manufactured on two continents, with the luxury electric SUV preparing to roll off the assembly line in South Carolina in the middle of the year. The Swedish brand says this highlights the company's growth in essential markets, such as North America, Europe, and Asia. Polestar notes that early production tests have already been carried out in the United States.

Production of the Polestar 3 was initially scheduled to kick off in August 2023, but the company faced several manufacturing delays that pushed the start date back. The Tesla Model X rival will be built alongside the Volvo EX90, another electric luxury SUV.

Sadly, the brand's most affordable vehicle, the Polestar 2, is not produced in the United States. As a result, it misses out on any available EV tax credits.

Returning to the Polestar 3, the electric SUV will be offered in two states of tune. Thanks to its dual-motor setup, the entry-level model will wade into battle with a healthy 489 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. A Performance package increases that to 517 horses and 671 lb-ft. Aside from that, the sportier version will also
