Mitsubishi Updates ASX For 2024, Remains A Rebadged Renault Captur

Just 19 months after Mitsubishi’s European ASX morphed into a rebadged version of the Renault Captur, the Japanese carmaker has updated the model to match the new 2024 Captur. Like the subcompact SUV that it replaces, the new ASX looks virtually identical to its French twin.Photos of the new model were first shared online by Mitsubishi Motors in the Netherlands. Like the Captur, the most significant styling changes have been made to the front where updated headlights are sitting in place of the lobster-claw-shaped units of the outgoing model.

No notable changes have been made to the sides. The presence of Mitsubishi text and a blacked-out lower bumper are the two most obvious alterations made to the rear.The cabin of the 2024 ASX has received a Mitsubishi badge and some new graphics but that’s about it.

It has the same 10.4-inch infotainment display as the Captur but lacks Renault’s new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and instead has a smaller 7-inch display.Key standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driver attention monitor, emergency lane-keeping assist, and intelligent speed assistance. Select versions also come with an 8-year warranty.While complete, market-specific details for the new ASX have not been announced, Mitsubishi’s Dutch website reveals it will be offered with an entry-level 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder that produces 89 hp and 118 lb-ft (160 Nm). A mild-hybrid 1.3 DI-T is also offered and delivers 138 hp and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) with a six-speed manual, while this powertrain is boosted to 158 hp and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) with a seven-speed automatic.
