Huawei and BAICS unveiled Stelato S9 at 2024 Beijing Auto Show

TheStelato S9 sedan made its debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. Stelato is a collaboration between Huawei and BAIC BluePark (a subsidiary of BAIC Auto). S9 is Stelato’s first vehicle. It aims to challenge premium competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series.

The large fully electric sedan measures 5160/1987/1486 mm, has a wheelbase of 3050 mm and has a curb weight of 2216/2246/2366kg. As supplied by Huawei, the S9 will be offered in single-motor or dual-motor versions. The single-motor version delivers 227 kW, while the dual-motor variant combines a 227 kW rear motor with an additional 158 kW front motor. The Stelato S9 will use batteries from CATL.

The Stelato S9’s design language is adopted from its smaller cousin, the Luxeed S7 (backed by Huawei and Chery). It uses digital rear mirrors and hidden door handles for better aerodynamics. It has 21-inch multi-spoke wheels. The car will be offered in black, white, red, and gold.

Luxeed S7 measures 4971/1963/1474 mm with a wheelbase of 2950 mm

As found in the Luxeed S7, the Stelato S9 is anticipated to adopt Huawei’s xPixel headlight system, Lidar sensors, a large central control screen running HarmonyOS 4, a dual 50W wireless charging pad, and luxurious leather finishes.

The Stelato S9 is expected to go on sale in July-August. The price range will likely be 300,000 to 500,000 yuan (41,400 to 69,000 USD). Despite Stelato’s aim to challenge premium competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series, at this price range, the S9 will enter a highly competitive Chinese market segment that will directly compete with rivals such as Geely’s Zeekr 001 and the Changan’s Avatr 12, which also uses Huawei’s technology.
