Chery’s iCar Expands Its Lineup With Rugged Minivans And Tougher SUVs

Chinese company iCar may have started with a low-slung GT concept but its lineup is clearly focused on rugged-looking EVs. Following the launch of its first production model – the iCar 03 SUV – in early 2024, the Chery-owned brand revealed the V23 off-roader, the X25 minivan, and the 03T SUV.The iCar 03T debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, based on the regular 03 but featuring several upgrades to enhance its off-road capabilities.

The highlight of the exterior is the wide fender extensions with extra intakes next to the LED headlights, the larger and wider alloy wheels, and the redesigned bumpers which are said to improve the off-road angles.More: Chery’s iCAR 03 Electric SUV Revealed In Production Form, Looks Like A Mini DefenderThe add-ons make the 03T slightly bigger than the 03, measuring 4,432 mm (174.5 inches) long, 1,916 mm (75.4 inches) wide, and 1,741 mm (68.5 inches) tall. The ground clearance has been increased to 200 mm (7.9 inches), while the 2,715 mm (106.9 inches) wheelbase is identical to the iCar 03.The underpinnings and powertrain options have been carried over.

This means that the 03T will be available in rear-wheel-drive form with single electric motor with 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS), or a dual-motor AWD setup producing a combined 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS).The second model that made its public debut in Beijing is the iCar X25. Its unconventional design combines the single-box proportions of a futuristic minivan with a raised stance, and rugged bumpers found in off-road vehicles.

The result looks like a space exploration vehicle, making it hard to believe that this EV will make it to production. The ultra-short overhangs and the generous ground clearance hint at great off-road capabilities, especially if combined with an AWD powertrain and the right set of tires. At the same time, the long wheelbase, the tall body, and the flat floor of the electric architecture promise a spacious interior with “flexible seat combinations” making the X25 ideal for camper conversions.
