This vibrant shade, while not traditionally associated with contemporary Volvo vehicles, has a rich history within the Swedish carmaker, having been used on classic models like the P1900, the 1800ES, and the limited-edition 850 T-5R. Moss Yellow is a unique colour specifically designed for the EX30, which is central to Volvo’s transition towards electric vehicles. While the launch colour, Cloud Blue, drew inspiration from Sweden’s skies, Moss Yellow was influenced by the lichens that grow on the rocky west coast of the country.

In South Africa, this distinctive shade is exclusive to the Plus and Ultra trim levels, giving the EX30 an eye-catching look that sets it apart from other electric cars. The Moss Yellow body is contrasted by a standard Onyx Black roof.

“The new Moss Yellow colour amplifies the EX30’s vibrant character, making it even more eye-catching. It perfectly embodies the EX30’s place in the electric vehicle segment, offering a combination of performance, luxury, safety, and value,” said Greg Maruszewski, Managing Director of Volvo Car SA.

As a recap, the Volvo EX30 launched in South Africa in February 2024, becoming one of the country’s most affordable fully electric cars. With a starting price of R775 900 across a broad range, the EX30 provides a zero-emissions alternative to consumers in the premium compact SUV segment. The lineup includes single and twin motor powertrains, 51 kWh and 69 kWh battery packs, and three trim levels: Core, Plus, and Ultra.
