TVS, Ola, Bajaj, Hero beware! Ather has this new affordable family electric scooter with 160km range

Electric scooter manufacturer Ather Energy today launched a new family electric scooter, the Ather Rizta, at an introductory starting price of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). With a claimed range of up to 160km on a single full charge, the Ather Rizta will take on the Ola S1 Air, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Hero Vida V1.

The Ather Rizta has two variants, S and Z. The S gets a 2.9kWh battery, while the Z has 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh battery options. The 2.9kWh trims have a claimed IDC range of 123km, while the 3.7kWh trim is claimed to be good for 160km on a single full charge.

All variants of the Ather Rizta come with a top speed of 80kmph and two riding modes, Zip and SmartEco. Moreover, ride assist features such as MagicTwist, AutoHold, and Reverse Mode, which are present in the Ather 450 series, are also available with the Ather Rizta.

Ather offers the Rizta S in three monotone colours. The Rizta Z has seven colours, including three monotone and four dualtone. The company will start delivering the Rizta electric scooters to the buyers starting from June 2024.

  • Rizta S 2.9kWh battery — Rs 1.10 lakh
  • Rizta Z 2.9kWh battery — Rs 1.25 lakh
  • Rizta Z 3.7kWh battery — Rs 1.45 lakh

The Ather Rizta electric scooter gets a standard five-year warranty program, ‘Ather Battery Protect’ that extends battery warranty to five years or 60,000km. This warranty program not only covers battery failures but also guarantees a minimum of 70% state-of-health for the battery at the end of five years.

For home charging, the Rizta S and Rizta Z with a 2.9kWh battery come with a 350W Ather portable charger and the top-end Rizta Z with a 3.7kWh battery gets a 700W new Ather Duo charger. Rizta owners will also have access to Ather’s fast-charging network, with 1,800+ fast charging points.

The Ather Rizta has the largest seat in its segment. Even the storage space is impressive at 56 litres, including a 34-litre underseat capacity, and an optional 22-litre frunk that you can get as an accessory. The Rizta Z has a backrest for enhanced pillion comfort. The under-seat storage can also be fitted with an optional multi-purpose charger with an 18W power
