Talks between General Motors and the United Auto Workers went on until about 5 a.m. Friday as they engage in intensive bargaining to try to reach a labor contract deal to end a six-week-old strike.
The United Auto Workers (UAW) union strike has ended at Ford, as the two sides have come to a historic tentative labor agreement that will see base wages rise by as much as 25% over the next four-and-a-half years. While the deal isn't finalized, and is still going through the ratification process, both sides have announced the agreement and the UAW has instructed its striking Ford employees to return to work.

DETROIT — The United Auto Workers union appears to be edging closer to a tentative contract agreement with Ford that would be critical to ending the union's six-week-old strikes against the three major Detroit automakers, two people with knowledge of the talks said Wednesday.
General Motors is once again in the UAW's crosshairs, and as we've already seen with recent strikes against Ford and Stellantis, the target is decidedly high-profile. The automaker's Arlington Assembly plant in Texas shut down this morning as 5,000 workers joined the strike against the Detroit brands that began a month and a half ago.
