Jeep's tiny Avenger SUV will now be offered in a hybrid configuration, Stellantis announced Monday. The baby crossover is sold exclusively in Europe and, at least until now, was only offered with a two-wheel-drive electric powertrain. With the introduction of the new e-Hybrid, the Avenger will now be offered with four driven wheels. Hey, that's the least you'd expect from something with a Jeep badge, right?
When the 2024 Jeep Compass was first announced, it came with a price drop that brought the base model below $30,000. And now Jeep has dropped the prices again. The entry-level Sport trim now starts at $27,495 including the $1,595 destination charge. That's a reduction of $2,500 compared to the original 2024 price.
During a press briefing outlining Jeep's strategy for the next couple of years, the brand confirmed that the Jeep Recon, the electric not-a-Wrangler, will finally be on sale in 2025. It will be the second EV Jeep launch in America, with the Wagoneer S launching first this year.
Jeep has issued a safety recall that applies to nearly 200,000 units of the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUVs built between the 2021 and 2024 model years. The recalled vehicles feature a software-related problem that disables the windshield defroster.
As caught by Motor Authority, Jeep quietly introduced its Hands-Free Active Driving Assist (HFDA) technology two years after announcing it. Press releases from 2021 heralding the 2022 Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer touted, «Hands-free Active Driving Assist (late availability) offers hands-off driving at all speeds and lane centering on approved roadways, for even greater driving convenience. The system will predictively slow the vehicle down in tight curves, automatically resume control after driver override and verify that the driver is paying attention to the road.» At the end of last year, members of the WL Jeep Forum were still creating threads asking if anyone had heard of HFDA appearing on production vehicles.
When we posted on pricing for the 2024 Grand Cherokee just a couple of weeks ago, we wondered yet again at lavish MSRP increases that Stellantis is applying to three of its four U.S. brands. Relative to launch pricing at the start of the 2023 model year, the lower Laredo and Altitude trims were only a few hundred more expensive in 2024, but the Limited, Overland, and Summit were anywhere from $3,190 to $6,490 more expensive.
Stellantis has been slow to roll out new electric models, so it’s not surprising to see the automaker being one of the last to join Tesla’s North American Charging Standard. That changed yesterday, as the automaker announced that it would begin offering the tech on some electrified vehicles starting in 2026.

The times are changing and not only are trucks getting more economical, but there are also several new smaller alternatives. An efficient tuck doesn't have to by tiny, though. Some of the trucks with the best gas mileage look classically bulky.
