Mercedes-AMG planning a 585-hp V8 for the AMG CLE 63

Before Mercedes-AMG products were great to drive, they were great to listen to — that V8 rumble was an enthusiast balm's for lackluster dynamics. When AMG started making great driver's cars almost 20 years ago, it made its exhaust notes even better, then fed the addiction with increasing sales every year. Now buyers can't quit the drug: Ever since AMG put a four-cylinder PHEV powertrain in the latest C 63 and E 63, compliments on the power and performance of both cars are drowned beneath indictments of excess weight and insufficient thrills. Last August, we heard rumor that Mercedes was contemplating a V8 return for the AMG C 63 and E 63 variants. Two weeks later, Mercedes-AMG's CEO personally scotched the scuttlebutt. However, it appears the love child of both sedans, the AMG CLE 63, will get a V8. That's the word from Autocar, which says it got the info from «senior officials at the division’s Mercedes-Benz parent company.»

Bentley's Ultra Performance Hybrid succeeds the 6.0-liter W12 - autoblog.com

Bentley's Ultra Performance Hybrid succeeds the 6.0-liter W12

The twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine composed the soundtrack to dreams around the world once it found a home in the Bentley Continental GT, which entered a production in 2003. That engine will sing its final encore in the Bentley Batur Convertible before the curtain comes down, tuned to its highest-ever output of 739 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The Englanders in Crewe have lifted the hood on the successor, without providing all the details. What we know for now is that the powerplant debuting this summer is called the Ultra Performance Hybrid, a V8 PHEV with «more than 750 PS combined output» and an all-electric range of 50 miles on the WLTP cycle.

Kia EV6 refresh teased with 'Star Map' lighting

Along with the Kia EV3 coming later this year, and the EV4, plus the EV5 for global markets, the automaker's working on a refreshed version of its first battery-electric vehicle for the U.S. market, the EV6. Proving that the design juggernaut won't stop anywhere in the Hyundai Group, the EV6 went on sale here less than three years ago as a 2022 model. But doing everything to maintain focus on its commitment to EVs, Kia wants its veteran rocking the new family look so everyone on the street knows what's what.

Kia EV3 teased in production form, looks much like the concept so far

Kia teased the production version of the EV3 concept before the crossover's global debut May 23. Based on the angles we see so far, and as usual for the brand, there isn't much difference between the show car and the one that will sit on dealer floors later this year. The Star Map lighting on the production version is a little different. The headlights have been trimmed a touch and feature horizontal elements in as on the EV9 and K4 instead of vertical elements. The taillights look to be the same size, but the diagonal contrast on the concept is now a pattern of vertical lines running into the tailgate. That's it for the apparent changes so far. Here's to hoping the concept's four-spoke wheels make the cut, too.
