The Volkswagen ID.Code concept just debuted at the Beijing Auto Show, providing a glimpse into the future of VW’s SUV design language.
Since it left the United States after the 2019 model year, the Smart brand has inched out of its niche toward more volume-oriented segments of the market. It just unveiled an outdoorsy concept called #5 at the 2024 Beijing auto show to preview its latest push toward the mainstream.
Amazon MGM Studios aired the first season of its new TV show «Fallout.» It's based on the long-running video game series that takes place in an alternative universe based on 1950s ideas of futurism, with it all leading up to all-out thermonuclear war and the aftermath. So to fit the look, any scenes that take place before the nuclear war feature '50s dress, political ideology, and, of course, automobiles. Most of the cars in the show are actual production vehicles from the time period. One of the main characters, Cooper Howard, drives a gorgeous yellow Kaiser Darrin, and there's even a scene that showcases the car's super cool sliding pocket doors. A Messerschmitt tandem bubble car also makes an appearance (and there are lookalikes that you can find in the game). But the most interesting and unique car shows up in the first episode, and amazingly, it's hidden in the background of various shots.
If we're talking about production cars, the 16-cylinder club is a small one. Cadillac sold the V-16 between 1930 and 1940, Cizeta began production of the V16T in 1993 and built around 13 units, and all of Bugatti's 21st-century cars have used a W16. The brand has a new V16 engine on the way, too. BMW could have joined this list: it spent years developing V16s that it tested in two generations of the 7 Series.
Appreciating high-end automotive art on the wall is as satisfying to some collectors as keeping a valuable bit of metal in the garage.
There may be snow on the ground in many parts of the country as I write this, but spring is in the air even way up here in the once-frigid expanse of Michigan, and with it comes Jeep's annual celebration in Moab, Utah — the Easter Jeep Safari. And as is tradition, Jeep has a handful of concept builds to show off to this year's Safari-goers. While we won't be seeing anything along the lines of the now-retired Jeep Magneto or 392 Scrambler, it's still Easter Jeep Safari; there's always something cool.
“The Neue Klasse is much more than just a car or a specific concept,” BMW chairman Oliver Zipse says. “It is redefining the BMW brand—and, at the same time, will be more BMW than ever.” Bear that in mind as you take in the Vision Neue Klasse X, a crisply modern concept that previews the car scheduled to replace the current iX3 when it goes on sale in about 18 months’ time.
More than merely a new concept, the Neue Klasse served as a preview of a new direction for the entire BMW brand. We haven't seen the production version of it yet, but the company will soon illustrate how it can apply this philosophy to an SUV with a second design study.
