Top 10 cars in April: Maruti drives with 7 models, 1 each for Tata, Hyundai, Mahindra

The country's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India, made a handsome start to FY25 having seven models among the 10 largest-selling cars in April, while the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra had one each.

The dominance of the SUVs was visible here as well with five such models among the 10 best-sellers during the month. The SUVs were from Maruti, Tata, Hyundai and Mahindra. There were two hatchbacks and one each sedan, MPV and van, but all from Maruti.

The top 10 selling cars in April were Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Maruti Suzuki Eeco.

The Punch continued its impressive run, emerging as the best-seller for the second consecutive month in April at 19,158 units. It was followed by the WagonR which garnered sales of 17,850 units. The Brezza came in at the third position with sales of 17,113 units.

The Dzire has been a solid pillar over the years for Maruti even though the sedan segment has seen its sales dwindling. In April, the Dzire clocked 15,825 units. The Creta was not far behind at 15,447 units. The Scorpio, including N and Classic, had a magnificent performance at 14,807 units.

The next four cars were all Maruti. The Fronx carried on its strong run at 14,286 units, followed by the Baleno at 14,049 units. The Ertiga kept the MPV flag high at 13,544 units, while the Eeco represented the van segment at 12,060 units.
