Michèle Mouton, Joyrides, and Fire-Resistant Underpants at the 2024 Dirtfish Women in Motorsports Summit

Underpants. The most important conversation I had during the 2024 Women in Motorsports (WIM) Summit at Dirtfish Rally School in Snoqualmie, Washington, was not with guest of honor Michèle Mouton about her incredible Pikes Peak triumph in 1985, or how she doesn't drink alcohol unless it's champagne. Nor was it with WRC commentator Becs Williams about how she discovered motorsports at a relatively late age and made a stunning career out of reporting on it. The conversation that really stuck with me was about underpants. Don't get weird about it.

UAW Leader Shawn Fain Is Bullish on the American Auto Worker

United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America president Shawn Fain is the UAW's most outspoken leader since Walter Reuther took the top job in 1946. An electrician by trade—and the proud owner today of a 2010 Dodge Charger («It’s got a Hemi,» he says) and a 1984 Chevrolet El Camino, handed down from his grandfather—Fain originally took a job at Chrysler's Kokomo, Indiana, factory in 1994. Becoming a union committee person, he ran against the grain of the union's national leadership, notably opposing givebacks agreed during the 2007–2009 recession.

Ultra-Low-Mile 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300TE Is Today's Bring a Trailer Find

In a sense, it's fitting that this Mercedes-Benz 300TE 4Matic hails from Vail, Colorado. When it was new, these luxury longroofs could be found hauling well-heeled families to ski slopes from Killington to Whistler, and certainly to Vail. With electronically-controlled all-wheel drive, a hydraulic self-leveling rear suspension, heated seats, and accommodations for seven, it was as capable as it was posh, though its towering price made it a niche item. The concept was well-liked enough, however, to still be with us today as the E-class All Terrain. This particular 300TE 4Matic, up for auction on Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos) has escaped the salt-induced decay of ski duty. Instead, like Ötzi the iceman, it seems to have been artificially preserved by spare use and Colorado's cold, dry mountain air. With just 28,000 miles on the odometer and few signs of wear, might be the nicest such wagon that isn't in a museum, and these 4Matics aren't common to begin with. A

Bring Home a Museum Full of Historic Ferrari F1 Cars With This Collection on Bring a Trailer

Are you a tifosi, one of the dedicated supporters of Ferrari's F1 racing team, one of those for whom Maranello is the ultimate holy ground? Yes? Then this comprehensive collection of gorgeous racing Ferraris, which extend all the way back until the 1950s, is sure to peak your interest. But as those VW Beetle ads used to say, you have to think small. 1965 Lincoln Continental Limo From the LBJ White House Up For Auction on Bring a Trailer

For the last half-century, ex-Presidential limos have been locked up, destroyed, or donated to a museum. But this 1965 Continental, all 21 feet of it, is up for auction right now on Bring a Trailer. Unlike the standard-grade Continental that LBJ drove at his Texas ranch, and which also sold on BaT not too long ago, this is one of 500 Executive Limousines that were stretched and strengthened by Lehmann-Peterson in Chicago between 1964 and 1970. The federal government bought 15, and of those, the Lincoln here is likely the only one that's in private hands. The sell

Nikola's HYLA Stations Are a 'Supercharger Moment' for Hydrogen Trucking - caranddriver.com - state California - county Ontario

Nikola's HYLA Stations Are a 'Supercharger Moment' for Hydrogen Trucking

Nikola, an alternate-fuel heavy-duty truckmaker with a checkered past, has taken a big step toward ensuring future success by opening its first HYLA-branded hydrogen refueling station. It's built to fill the refueling needs of the company's own Tre FCHEV (fuel-cell hydrogen electric vehicle). You could call this Nikola's «Supercharger moment,» a Tesla-like move in which they take charge of both the chicken and the egg sides of the equation so potential customers of their Tre FCHEV semi will not have to wonder how they'll refuel their new rigs. But HYLA stations are not built to serve Nikola's trucks exclusively: the H70 refueling standard and nozzle design they employ is an industry standard that is also used by heavy-duty hydrogen fuel-cell trucks from Hyundai and others. The use of liquid hydrogen solves a couple of problems that can plague the gaseous hydrogen stations geared toward the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, particularly capacity and downtime. A given amount of liquid hydrogen takes up only a tenth the space of hydrogen in gaseous form, so the portable above-ground units (there are currently two at

Cupra, a Spanish Performance Brand, Plans to Sell EVs in America - caranddriver.com - Mexico - Spain

Cupra, a Spanish Performance Brand, Plans to Sell EVs in America

Cupra, the up-and-coming Spanish satellite of the Volkswagen Group, is on a roll. And now the team is preparing the next coup, a launch in the U.S. before the end of the decade. Here are the details. What Is Cupra? Cupra started life in 2016 as a subdivision of the Spanish Seat brand that specialized in sporty equipment packs, kind of a poor man's AMG Line or BMW M Sport. But only two years later, it got upgraded to full-fledged brand status. The kick-off product, a go-fast version of the Ateca small SUV, was followed by the Leon hatchback and the Leon wagon in 2021. The first standalone Cupra model was the Formentor SU

2025 Nissan Kicks Glows Up, Now Offering AWD and More Space

The new 2025 Nissan Kicks is a small crossover transformed. Not only does it look far more modern than before, it also grows in size significantly and offers a larger engine and a newly available all-wheel-drive option. While the first-generation Kicks was more of an entry-level FWD hatchback with crossover-esque styling, this redesign brings it more into the subcompact-SUV mainstream, where it will compete with models including the Hyundai Kona and Mazda CX-30. Bigger and Better-Equipped Taller, longer, and wider than the old Kicks, the new model has a cheeky design sensibility with pronounced wheel arches, a distinctive grille, and optional two-tone color schemes. S, SV, and SR trims will be offered, with the SR pictured here getting 19-inch wheels and special accen
