Nissan and Mitsubishi to Partner on a New EV and Pickup Truck for the U.S. - caranddriver.com - Mexico

Nissan and Mitsubishi to Partner on a New EV and Pickup Truck for the U.S.

Nissan and Mitsubishi have been part of the same automotive alliance—along with Renault—for a few years now. However, we haven't seen the two familiar brands collaborate on many models for the U.S. market, save for the Nissan Rogue providing the foundation for the Mitsubishi Outlander. Now, Nissan and Mitsubishi have plans to partner up on new models that are destined for America. Earlier this week, Nissan announced a three-year plan that includes launching seven new models in North America as well as refreshing the majority of its U.S. lineup by 2026. Also part of that news was that it would work to adopt a plug-in hybrid based on a Mitsubishi-developed powertrain. Since there's an Outlander PHEV, perhaps that will be translated to the more popular Rogue. Mitsubishi will also benefit f

Kia Recalling 430,000 Tellurides over Rollaway Risk

Kia is recalling 427,407 Telluride SUVs due to an issue with the driveshaft system that may allow parked vehicles to roll away. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall is necessary to fix an improperly assembled intermediate shaft and front right driveshaft that could engage only partially. This, when repeated frequently, can cause damage to the intermediate shaft splines, potentially allowing unintended movement while the vehicle is in park. Kia said there have been 16 reports of this problem, including 10 warranty claims, and in six of the cases, the vehicles have been confirmed by the automaker to have spline damage or wear consistent with the recall issue. The recall covers a wide spread of Tellurides, including all 2020 through 2023 and select 2024 model Telluride vehicles manufactured from January 9, 2019, through October 19, 2023. Documents filed with NHTSA cite Kia's estimate that only 1 percent of vehicles covered under the recall will turn out to be affected. The NHTSA safety report states that both a grinding noise and loss of power can help identify the issue to owners. The NHTSA documents stat

Three Arrested, $600,000 Worth of Corvettes and Camaros Recovered in California 'Chop Shop' Raid

Police in California raided a «chop shop» and recovered more than $600,000 worth of Chevy Camaros, Corvettes, and dismantled parts, earlier in March, officials said. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Joaquin County Auto Theft Task Force led an investigation that resulted in the bust on the afternoon of March 11. The illegal operation specialized in high-end Camaros and Corvettes. Ten Camaros and two Chevy Corvettes were recovered. Three men were arrested.

As Toyota Land Cruisers Go on Sale, What Does It Take to Snag One?

We'd imagine people are already lining up at Toyota dealerships across the country to join the waiting list for the new 2024 Land Cruiser, and we now have more inside information on the sales rollout for this highly anticipated SUV. A Toyota representative told C/D that the Land Cruiser First Edition (pictured at top) is starting to arrive at dealerships now. This model represents the first 5000 units of the Land Cruiser to reach the U.S. Toyota is not taking reservations on a corporate level, and says that «all transactions are handled through our dealers.» We found

Lamborghini’s New Logo Looks a Heck of a Lot Like the Old One

Here, take a closer look at this. No, no, even closer. That's better, but you're probably still going to need to squint; Lamborghini just revealed a redesigned version of the iconic raging bull logo for the first time in over 20 years. The changes to the logo are minimal, and assuming you aren't a Lamborghini historian or a logo fetishist, you could just as easily miss them. The new crest has been toned down slightly, losing its previous 3D look. At the top of the logo, the «Lamborghini» typeface features a «broader» look the company says is actually part of a new official Lamborghini typeface designed to evoke the angularity of its cars. La

2025 Toyota 4Runner Teased in New Photo as Reveal Approaches

Toyota has given us our first look at the all-new 4Runner, which is expected to arrive later this year as a 2025 model. The company teased the redesigned SUV in a new Instagram post that shows the evolution of the 4Runner through the ages, culminating in a close-up shot of the 4Runner's new rear bumper. The written-out «4Runner» badge on the rear tailgate, which has lived directly under the Toyota badge for years, has migrated to sit directly above the bumper in a new blocky font. We can also spot redesigned taillights peaking out at the top of the image. The teaser comes a month after we caught a heavily camouflaged 4Runner prototype testing near Toyota's R&D center (and Car and Driver HQ) near Ann Arbor, Michigan. That spotting indicated that the S
