Italdesign’s latest concept, the Quintessenza immediately merges the elegance of a grand touring car with the versatility of a bakkie truck, creating a vehicle that’s perfect for gazing at the stars with a removable rear panel. While it’s debatable whether the Quintessenza truly fits into either category, its innovative design and unique features are sure to pique the interest of anyone who enjoys a stylish, high-tech ride.

Despite a substantial size, the hybrid design accommodates four seats, with a central console running down the middle. The console isn’t just functional; it houses the infotainment controls, switches, an organizer, and a refrigerated mini-bar large enough to hold a bottle of wine and two glasses.

At the front, the dashboard has a unique floating design, stretching from the base of the windshield to the rear of the car. Made from a marble-based fabric, it uses a projection system to reveal hidden controls when needed. The minimalist approach continues with the vehicle’s interface, where the steering wheel doubles as a dock for your smartphone, connecting via a custom app. The phone can display crucial information like speed, battery level, and turn signals, giving the driver control over various vehicle settings.

One of the concept’s party tricks is the ability to flip around the rear seats and remove the hardtop, transforming the cabin into an open-air space. The central console can even slide backward, allowing easier access to the mini-bar while you relax in the reclining rear seats and take in the view.

Outside, the eye is drawn to a cohesive two door featuring chunky fender flares cover 24-inch wheels, and the sharp lighting elements at the front and rear add to its striking look. A fastback roof conceals the bed, which can be accessed through electronically powered scissor doors and a tailgate. Adjustable
