Rally Ready Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato Succumbs to Cape Sand Trap

The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato’s party trick is being able to go where no other Raging Bull can. Despite that, one owner marooned their Sterrato while dune bashing at the Atlantis Dunes, but we love to see it being used as it was intended!

“In terms of performance, the Sterrato belongs in the world’s most dynamic and exciting driving environments.” – Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO.

Earlier in the year, a video was uploaded to Twitter that showcased a Giallo Inti Huracán Sterrato carving across the Atlantis dunes with upheaved sand in its wake. In contrast to that video is another one of likely the same Sterrato hitched to a Ford Ranger in an attempt to free the off-road inclined Lamborghini. Independent double-wishbones and steel springs with MagneRide hydraulic dampers support the Sterrato’s frame and contribute to the 44 mm increase in ground clearance compared to the Huracán Evo.

The Huracán Sterrato employs a mid-mounted 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 outputting 449 kW/ 560 N.m. affixed to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels via the electronically controlled all-wheel system. To embolden its affinity to off-roading demands and demanding terrain, the Starrato employs a mechanically self-locking rear differential.

Already caught in a little sand rut, the driver of the all-terrain Lamborghini attempts to free the car by applying some throttle in unison with the Ranger Raptor, but to no avail. The Huracán Steratto weighs just under 1.5 tonnes (1 470 kg), while the Raptor has a maximum towing capacity of 2500 kg. Under different circumstances, the Ranger should be able to easily upheave the slender supercar, but it seems the Ranger was in the same predicament as the roughly R5 million Lamborghini.
