Porsche And Koenigsegg To Be Honored At The Quail Later This Year

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has shared what we can expect when the beloved event returns to Monterey Car Week on August 16.

What can we expect? Aside from the usual spectacular car launches, rare classics, and the most desirable collectible vehicles, this year's event will center around several anniversaries, including British brand MG's centenary, 30 years of Koenigsegg, and the Porsche 911 Turbo's 50th birthday.

These iconic performance brands will be honored differently, although organizers have yet to share information on what is planned. Fifty years ago, Porsche introduced the very first 911 Turbo, affectionately known as the Widowmaker. The Zuffenhausen-based marque celebrated the 930 designed in collaboration with Style Porsche and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Thirty years ago, Koenigsegg was founded. What was once an unfamiliar brand has become one of the world's most desirable, crafting exquisite and innovative hypercars, like the CC850 and its revolutionary transmission. Recent masterpieces include the Gemera and the Jesko.

«We are proud to honor some of the brands that have helped shape modern car culture, including Porsche and Koenigsegg, at this year's The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. Every year, we work to cultivate a luxurious experience for all automotive enthusiasts, and we hope to make this year's festivities the most memorable yet,» said Kai Lermen, managing director of Quail Lodge & Golf Club.

While MG isn't hugely popular in America, the iconic British brand will celebrate its 100th birthday this year and will be honored at the prestigious event. Perhaps we will get to see the all-electric Cyberster on American soil?

No details have been shared, but The Quail — described as the jewel of Monterey Car Week — will also include a tribute to the greatest rally cars. That means we may see legends like the Audi Quattro, Ford RS200, and Peugeot T16, to name a few. Naturally, the eight traditional classes will be featured, including Post-War Sports Cars, the Evolution of the Supercar, the Great Ferraris, and Custom Coach Work, to name a few. Additionally, we can expect an array of stunning classics.

Aside from the beautiful cars, guests
