New motor show from Motorclassica organisers coming to Melbourne

Melbourne's Motorclassica show – celebrating classic and modern cars – will not return after the 2023 event was cancelled a fortnight before the doors were due to open, its organisers have confirmed.

In its place will be a new 'Motors & Masterpieces’ show coming to Melbourne Showgrounds from 22 November to 24 November 2024, which is planned to showcase more than 200 types of cars – across 120 years of motoring history – split up into six themes.

Vehicles set to be shown at Motors and Masterpieces include a Lamborghini Miura P400 and Tatra T87 – one of 3056 produced from 1936 to 1950 – plus a Lancia Aurelia and a Ferrari 750 Monza, just to name a few.

While anyone can apply to display their car, event organisers said «only cars with significant provenance and importance as well as in superb condition» are eligible for judging and accolades.

The show vehicles are provided entrants from Australia and overseas.

The 2023 edition of the Motorclassica show was suddenly scrapped two weeks before it was due to open, without a reason given by organisers.
