New Ferrari 12Cilndri Revealed: A Beauty And A Beast In Equal Parts

The ‘Heart of a Prancing Horse’ has always been a V12 engine, and it seems like that heart is very much alive and healthy with Ferrari’s latest creation: the 12Cilndri. The name says it clearly: 12 cylinders; And unlike its peers, that have caved into the need for electrification, Ferrari’s heart remains ‘pure’ of any adulteration with a free-breathing V12 engine. The 12Cilndri replaces the mighty 812 GTS and could well be one of the last ‘true’ Prancing Horses. Let’s take a detailed look at it:

Design

If you are a true Tifosi, you might catch the inspiration for the 12Cilndri almost immediately. The wedge-like shape up front harks back to the original Daytona (365 GTB 4). It looks sleek and angular, and the headlights are part of a single wraparound band, while the DRLs seem to emerge like blades and continue beyond the wheels.

The 21-inch alloys look chic – machined from a single block of metal, and the haunch at the rear wheel arch really adds character to its design. The rear looks sharp and really aggressive, and the massive diffuser plays a significant role here. The tail lights look like a slimmer version of the 296 GTB, with dynamic flaps – to improve airflow and downforce – just above it.

The rear looks like an evolved version of the 812, but what is unique is the wing design which uses both metal and glass, and comes together as one of the design highlights on the 12Cilndri. Seems like Ferrari found the sweet spot for mixing retro elements with modern ones. What do you think?

The cabin of the 12Cilndri is inspired by the Purosangue and follows the same dual cockpit design. But there are a few key changes to elevate the experience. That comes in the form of a new 10.25-inch central screen, which compliments the 15.6-inch driver’s display and the 8.8-inch passenger display.

The three-spoke steering, despite the widespread criticism, continues with a slew of touch-sensitive buttons, but the metal-finished central console looks rather cool.
