As I got delegated to attend Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism's familiarisation trip for automotive journalists, I couldn’t hold in my excitement as Dubai is the place if you're a fan of everything automotive. The sprawling metropolis is home to cars of all kinds and make, from Lamborghinis, Ferraris and even ultra-rare Bugattis and Koenigseggs to iconic heritage models, which can be seen strolling around downtown at night. Seeing exotic machines was definitely exciting, but the actual reason for my elation was the opportunity for my first real racetrack experience.
Porsche confirmed Monday morning that the long-awaited Porsche 911 Hybrid will debut on Tuesday, May 28. Depending on who you ask, the first road-going hybrid 911 will be welcomed with either open arms or strong reluctance, but what can't be denied is that Porsche's put its new baby through the ringer to deliver a true 911.
Law enforcement agencies the world over have been known to employ hopped-up sports cars and exotics for crimefighting duties. A Nissan GT-R was added to a Japanese highway patrol unit, Alpine A110s were used for «rapid intervention» in rural France, and a Lamborghini Huracan helped Italy with expedited organ transport. Oh, right, and there's Dubai's infamous police fleet that includes Bugattis, Lambos, McLarens, and Porsches.
Scheduled to make its official debut on 3 July, 2024, Jaguar Land Rover South Africa has confirmed the local introduction of the ‘groundbreaking’ Defender Octa. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming model…
Defender recently made the leap from a nameplate in the Land Rover portfolio to a standalone brand within the JLR group. The first SUV the company will launch after gaining independence is a high-performance evolution of the Defender named Octa making its debut in July 2024.
As JLR prepares for the debut of its first electric Range Rover, it is also gearing up to reveal the most extreme V8-powered 4x4 it has yet produced. The Defender Octa will be revealed on July 3 as a highly exclusive and extremely capable super-off-roader, which is set to use the twin-turbocharged, mild-hybrid 4.4-litre V8 from BMW, as deployed in the X5 M and X6 M SUVs.
