Listen As Pagani Teases A Screaming Longtail Hypercar For The Track

Pagani Automobili is planning to unveil something extraordinary, with a new teaser giving us a look at what appears to be a very dramatic hypercar. Draped in black cloth, this mysterious longtail creation wears a massive rear wing and voluptuous bodywork that flows from stem to stern. The generous proportions and the prominent spoiler create the impression of a GT1 or LMP racer.

In the teaser video below, Pagani says, «What's your favorite music? This,» as the unmistakable sound of a high-revving V12 howls its way towards the redline. As the engine screams, the accompanying footage shows some of the world's most iconic circuits — Imola Circuit, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and Yas Marina Circuit.

This suggests the newcomer will be a track-focused car — and Pagani cleverly alludes to that. «A new creation from Pagani Atelier is right on track,» says the caption.

The newcomer will likely be based either on the new Utopia or Huayra. We will go with the latter based on the shape of the front fascia.

After all, the Utopia was only revealed in late 2022, and we're guessing Pagani will take its time before introducing unique variants of its latest creation. Even though the Huayra was technically discontinued and the closed-top Huayra Imola had already arrived in 2020, Pagani still created the Imola Roadster last year.

It's worth noting that the vehicle teased above has a very similar side profile to the Huayra R and the Zonda R/Zonda Revolucion. As these vehicles arrived near the end of their respective model life cycles, it's unlikely to be a Utopia R.

The most likely guess is a one-of-a-kind Huayra R with bespoke detailing by Pagani's Unico or Atelier programs. The bespoke department is responsible for exceptional motor vehicles, such as the one-off Zonda Attack.

The longtail body style has us wondering whether we could see an evolution of the Codalunga, an ultra-exclusive hypercar inspired by the longtail racers of the '60s. Then again, this was an exceptional motorcar designed in collaboration with Pagani Grandi Complicazioni, and we doubt Pagani would build upon a bespoke vehicle. Unless, of course, one of the five owners requested these customizations.
