Isuzu has whipped the wraps off a special-edition D-Max, the D-Max Steel Edition. Limited to only 300 units, the D-Max Steel Edition is distinguished from its standard stablemates with an array of model-specific design elements, which, the Japanese automaker says, enhances the double-cab bakkie’s “rugged charm” and “urban sophistication”.

Released for the UK market, the D-Max Steel Edition’s bodywork is finished in Steel Grey Mica paintwork. However, it’s not only the body hue that sets this model apart from its standard stablemates. Enhancing its limited-edition status, the D-Max Steel Edition’s wheel arches and roof rails are finished in dark grey. In addition, the latter hue has been carried over to the Isuzu emblem sited on the grille and the “Steel” tailgate badging.

“Steel” branding and decals are, of course, also present. On the outside, the latter has been applied to the scuff plates, which incorporates LEDs, and, on the inside, “Steel” lettering can be found embossed on the front pews’ headrests. “Steel” branded carpets are also present. In addition, the puddle lamps display “Steel” when the doors are opened.

Isuzu Introduces Inaugural D-Max Electric Bakkie

Based on the D-Max V-Cross, the D-Max Steel Edition is powered by Isuzu’s familiar 3.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. As a reminder, the oil-burner churns out 140 kW and 450 N.m of torque, the latter of which is available from a lowly 1 600 r/min.
