Immaculate Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Selling With 440 Original Miles

A 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z with just 440 miles under its belt is going under the hammer via Bring A Trailer. Collectors now have the chance to purchase what is possibly the best-known example of the most desirable third-generation Camaro.

As you would expect, the vehicle presents in showroom-fresh condition, with gorgeous crimson paintwork, perfect rubbers, and flawless glass. Everything looks brand new, with no signs of damage or scratches anywhere. Unmistakably a car of the '80s, the IROC-Z wears loud Bright Red paintwork, accentuating the muscular and boxy styling. The exterior paint is flawless, with paint meter readings showing relatively thick paint for a car of this age.

Faux hood vents, rear window louvers, and removable T-top roof panels add more '80s flair. This example wears sport side mirrors and body-colored valances at the front and rear. The 16-inch aluminum wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle ZR50 rubber, would be considered small today but were rather large for the period.

When new, the 5.7-liter L98 V8 produced 230 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. These days, the turbocharged four-cylinder Camaro makes more power (275 hp), albeit with slightly less torque (295 lb-ft). We doubt this Camaro will ever hit the road again, though. In this condition and with such low mileage, this IROC-Z is destined for a museum or collector's garage. The interior presents as beautifully as the radiant exterior, with the heavily padded front bucket seats trimmed in gray cloth, which also appears on the rear seats and door cards.

Leather trimmings on the gear selector, handbrake lever, and steering wheel add a touch of class to the somber cabin. The spec is rather interesting. Occupants enjoyed air-conditioning, a Delco cassette audio system, cruise control, and more. But the windows and seats are manually adjustable.

At the time of writing, the highest bid is sitting at
