Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings Plc is interviewing candidates to become its fourth chief executive in as many years, as the struggling UK carmaker prepares to replace 77-year-old Amedeo Felisa.
According to several reports, the long-awaited return of the Vanquish nameplate is in doubt, as Aston Martin has confirmed that the mid-engine supercar it was developing has been put on ice indefinitely.
Pour one out for the forthcoming Aston Martin Vanquish, at least as it was presented in concept form. A company spokesperson confirmed to us that Aston Martin is "moving away" from the Vanquish and its mid-engine V6 design, which was expected to debut as a Ferrari 296 GTB fighter amid a slathering of new Aston Martin offerings in the next two years.
UPDATE 11/28/23: An Aston Martin spokesperson reached out to Car and Driverto confirm that the Vanquish has been cancelled. Earlier this year, the company's executive chairman, Lawrence Stroll, publicly said that Aston would no longer build the mid-engined Vanquish, which was planned to have a hybrid twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 powertrain that would be built in-house. Aston Martin is planning on expanding its brand-new infotainment system to the DBX «in the near future,» according to company Chairman Lawrence Stroll. Autocar reports that during the carmaker's third-quarter earnings call, Stroll responded to a JPMorgan analyst who asked when the new infotainment system that debuted in the DB12 would make its way to the SUV.

Ever since Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll took control of Aston Martin, things have broadly been on the up at the venerable British automaker, particularly in motorsport. From recruiting two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to overhauling the entire Formula 1 team and supporting a healthy GT racing program, Stroll has done his part to ensure that the company is a force on the track as well as the streets. Today's announcement that the Aston Martin Valkyrie will compete in the World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as IMSA in 2025 places strong emphasis on that.
