2024 Aston Martin DBX SUV To Get Upgraded Interior From DB12

Aston Martin is planning on expanding its brand-new infotainment system to the DBX «in the near future,» according to company Chairman Lawrence Stroll. Autocar reports that during the carmaker's third-quarter earnings call, Stroll responded to a JPMorgan analyst who asked when the new infotainment system that debuted in the DB12 would make its way to the SUV.

This doesn't come as a surprise, as by far the biggest letdown in recent years on Aston Martin vehicles has been the Mercedes-sourced infotainment system. An outdated setup, it utilizes a trackpad that controls the screen instead of a touchscreen. Chairman Stroll has made it his mission to fix this, and its new in-house touchscreen setup is finally here to right that wrong.

The DB12 has apparently been the revelation the company wanted it to be with order books extending into 2024 with 55% of those customers being new to the brand. All in all, the company has seen an 8% increase in sales over the same period last year, and a big part of that is thanks to the DBX lineup.

With order books also extending into 2024, the company says the big boost to its sales has been the SUV. With 2,240 units sold, the model makes up more than half of all 2023 sales and represents a 23% increase from 2022. The hopped-up DBX 707 made up 70% of those sales this year which is unsurprising given how much of a revelation it is to drive.

Out of all of its key markets, the US, UK, and EMEA saw growth this year. The only key market that didn't see growth was in China. Perhaps the lackluster infotainment system was part of the reason. Whereas sportiness and luxury are enough for buyers in many other parts of the world, the Chinese elite enjoy being chauffered around in technological palaces on wheels.

There's no word on when we should expect the new infotainment to hit the DBX, but we imagine it will be in the next couple of years. The SUV has been on sale since 2020, so it's due for a refresh. It's possible when that happens we could also see a new variant of the DBX 707.

Aston Martin Lagonda senior vehicle engineering manager, Andy Tokley, previously said he's interested in a lighter, more hardcore variant of the super SUV.
