Bentley Debuts Drop-Dead Gorgeous Batur Convertible with W12

Bentley Motors has revealed the Mulliner-crafted Batur Convertible; the third coachbuilt Bentley of the modern era. This drop-dead gorgeous open-top touring vehicle follows the tradition of Bentley’s custom-made cars, building on the success of the Bacalar barchetta and Batur coupe.

First thing is first, under the long and pronounced bonnet, the Batur Convertible features Bentley’s most powerful engine yet: a 552 kW, hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12. As Bentley prepares to end production of this iconic engine, the Batur Convertible will be one of the last Bentleys to harness this powertrain, offering an impressive 1 000 N.m of torque. The W12 is paired with Bentley’s eight-speed double-clutch transmission, delivering seamless shifts and exhilarating performance. The exhaust system, made entirely of titanium expectedly offers a sporty soundtrack, with the finishers crafted using 3D printing technology.

The Batur Convertible features a distinctive exterior design that reflects its bespoke heritage. The front grille has a unique matrix pattern in Gloss Dark Titanium, with chevron accents creating a stunning ombré effect. The “endless bonnet” line is finished in Gloss Dark Titanium, complementing the 22-inch wheels with a mix of gloss and satin black titanium, accented with Vermillion Gloss.

New Coachbuilt Bentley Teased Before Imminent Reveal

The convertible roof is a highlight of the Batur, providing a tactile and modern alternative to a hardtop. It can be deployed or stowed in just 19 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 30 mph (50 km/h). This flexibility allows drivers to experience the joy of open-top motoring or the comfort of a luxurious coupe at the touch of a button.

Mulliner’s bespoke craftsmanship shines through in the Batur Convertible. The car features a “wraparound” cockpit design inspired by classic barchetta sports cars, with a dramatic airbridge behind the seats and tapered cowls at the rear. These elements not only add to the visual appeal but also provide a semi-enclosed luggage compartment behind the front seats.
