Ather Rizta electric scooter spotted before official launch

Ather Energy has been gearing up for some time now to unveil their latest electric scooter. However, the Rizta has been spotted without camouflage before the official launch on April 6. From a design standpoint, Ather’s upcoming scooter looks a lot more substantial and is expected to come with a larger underseat storage. It also looks a lot more rounded and is intended to be a family scooter. There’s also a backrest for the pillion rider, and Ather has previously made the claim of the Rizta having the longest seat in its class. There also appears to be more room for storage, thanks to the larger floorboard compared to the 450 series.

Furthermore, the Ather Rizta is expected to come with a completely different chassis setup in comparison to its 450 siblings. To keep pricing in check, the Rizta will most likely come with a rear drum brake, while the front will come with a disc. Other expected equipment includes a telescopic front fork and a monoshock at the rear. As far as powertrains are concerned, it is unclear if the Rizta will share the motor and battery pack like the 450 series. In the spy shot, the swingarm does appear to be unlike the ones found on the 450 series of electric scooters.

Apart from this, the Rizta will most likely sport a colour TFT instrument cluster. However, lower variants, if there are any at the time of the launch, could come equipped with a simpler LCD unit. The rearview mirror design is also slightly different from the 450 series, and there will be several minor differences to keep the overall price in check. Upon its launch, the Ather Rizta will compete against the TVS iQube. We expect prices to start from just under Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh (estimate).
