2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift bookings open, launch on May 9 with standard 6 airbags

Maruti Suzuki India today opened bookings for the upcoming fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The car will be launched in the country on May 9 and is expected to come with six airbags as standard.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift was initially introduced in the country in 2005. Till now, it has sold around 3 million units in the domestic market. The car is exported to multiple international markets as well.

According to our sources, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 will come with six airbags as standard. This would immensely benefit the car as it already has other safety features like electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA), as standard.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift garnered sales of 195,321 units in FY24. While no hatchback from any rival brand could come close, the Tata Punch did push Maruti hatchbacks with volumes of 170,076 units during the fiscal. The Tata Punch also emerged as the largest-selling car in India in March 2024. Even the Hyundai Exter, launched in July 2023, posted decent sales of 71,299 units in FY24, while the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios clocked 70,764 units.

Talking about the safety ratings of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the car performed rather poorly at Global NCAP with merely one star each in the adult occupant protection and the child occupant protection categories. The Tata Punch, as we all know, is a five-star safety-rated car. If we talk about the Hyundai Exter and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, both get six airbags as standard. For that matter, all Hyundai cars in India come with six airbags as standard now.

With safety features like six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, and BA as standard, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift would become an even better proposition, offering more value for money to the buyers. Also, it would be able to improve its safety ratings in case it is tested at Bharat NCAP.

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 will come with significant exterior and interior updates. It will have a redesigned front with a new grille, new LED headlamps, new LED taillamps and new alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the touchscreen infotainment
