2024 Mahindra Thar 5-door Base Variant Spotted On Test

We have more spy shots of the Mahindra Thar 5-door for you, this time it’s the base variant of the upcoming offroader. It will likely make its debut in India on August 15, 2024. The base variant of the Thar 5-door will obviously miss out on the premium features, but will be an option worth considering for those looking for a robust 5-door SUV with offroading capabilities.

It is clear from the spy shots that the base variant will be offered with steel wheels and miss out on the dual tone alloy wheels which the higher variants are expected to get. It should also be getting halogen headlights instead of the LEDs that are most likely to be offered with the higher variants. Apart from this, we can see that it will get a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and LED taillights. Tap here to know more about the design of the upcoming Thar.

The upcoming 5-door Thar is expected to be loaded with premium features like the sunroof, rear AC vents, dual-zone climate control, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver display over the existing Thar. However, the base variant in question will just be getting the essentials and miss out on the niceties that the higher variants are expected to offer.

In terms of safety it is expected to get 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill assist, and hill descent control. On higher variants, we expect the upcoming Thar to get features like front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

A 2-litre turbo-petrol engine making 150PS and a 2.2-litre diesel engine making 130 PS from the three-door model, but with more power. It should be offered with both manual and automatic as well as rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options.

It will be fair to expect a premium for the 5-door version of the Thar over the existing 3-door variants, which starts at Rs 11.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly lock horns with the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door, while being a larger
