2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse And Mustang GT Get More Price Increases

Ford has increased the pricing for the 2024 Mustang GT and Dark Horse by as much as $1,840, according to a letter sent to dealers.

The Ford Mustang GT gets a $250 price bump, translating to a $41,960 starting price. Meanwhile, the GT Premium and GT Premium Convertible now start at $46,480 and $51,980, respectively.

The more track-ready Mustang Dark Horse Premium (w/ Dark Horse Appearance Package) received a $995 MSRP increase, with Ford's customer-facing website showing a base price of $62,180. Furthermore, the Dark Horse Handling Package and Recaro sports seats cost $500 and $345 more, respectively. This means the Dark Horse Premium has seen a price inflation of up to $1,840. The regular Dark Horse starts at $58,185.

This price increase follows the $215 price hike on the GT and Dark Horse trims seen last December. While the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is standard for both trims, customers can opt for a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed auto gearbox for an additional $1,595. The Mustang Dark Horse makes 500 horsepower — about 20 more horses than the GT trim. The base EcoBoost model offers up to 330 hp. Happily, this turbocharged four-pot variant's pricing has not increased, suggesting that Ford may be capitalizing on demand for the V8.

There are several options available for each variant of the pony car, including the Co-Pilot360 Assist+ for $1,095.

Apart from the Ford Mustang, the Blue Oval company has been updating the pricing of its other models — particularly EVs — to stay competitive against the competition. Chief among these is the Ford F-150 Lightning, which recently got a price cut of as much as $15,000. The Mustang's electric sibling, the Mustang Mach-E, is also heavily discounted and now starts at under $40,000.

If you've been after a V8 pony car, it just got more expensive, but if you've been eyeing an EV, it's hardly been cheaper to make the switch.
