2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV Debuts With Concept Looks And Two Body Styles

Dodge has revealed the all-new Charger Daytona as its first-ever electric vehicle, and despite the powertrain change, can still lay claim to production of the world's quickest and most powerful muscle car. The 2024 Dodge Charger arrives as both sedan and coupe (with identical wheelbases for each) and is offered in two trim levels at launch.

The headline grabber is the Dodge Daytona Scat Pack, which produces up to 670 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque and is predicted to complete the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.3 seconds. The other variant is the R/T, with up to 496 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque — enough to reach 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is rated at 137 mph for the R/T, while the Scat Pack is slower on the top end with a limit of 134 mph. On the quarter mile, it takes bragging rights back by crossing the 1,320-foot mark in 11.5 seconds (the R/T arrives after 13.1 seconds).

The new Charger is built on the STLA Large platform and arrives with a 400V system with a motor on each axle. Yes, as standard, the Charger comes with all-wheel drive, but the front electric drive module can be disconnected for improved efficiency (and other benefits). The rear features a mechanical limited-slip differential, and each unit (with an inverter, gearbox, and motor) produces 250 kW (335 hp) and 300 lb-ft of torque.

This 400V system has six levels of performance, and there's a catch to those figures mentioned above: both trims have been tuned by Dodge. As standard (for now), the Charger Daytona R/T is equipped with a Direct Connection Stage 1 upgrade kit that adds 40 hp to its base figure of 456 hp. Similarly, the Daytona Scat Pack comes with a Stage 2 kit, unlocking 80 hp for a total of 670 ponies.

Future models will ship with 456 hp and 590 hp, respectively, unless buyers pay dealerships tuning packs. There will also be an 800V Banshee range-topper eventually, potentially with fake engine vibrations.

Helping slow the heavy muscle car are the largest brakes ever offered on a Dodge product: 16-inch Brembo rotors with six-piston calipers in front and four-piston calipers at the rear. These are standard for all 2024 models but will only be available as part of a Track Pack in the future. That's
