Toyota Teases the Next-Gen Camry

  • Toyota is planning to reveal the next-generation Camry on November 14 at 10 PM Eastern, just ahead of the Los Angeles auto show.
  • The teaser shows the upcoming Camry will be at least available as a hybrid-electric vehicle.
  • The current Camry was launched in 2017, which means this Camry is right in line with generational updates.

As we expected from the earlier teaser, Toyota is gearing up to show off a new next-generation Camry in conjunction with the Los Angeles auto show. While the company doesn’t have a scheduled press conference, Toyota is setting to show off the new Camry at 10 PM Eastern on November 14.

Details are still light about the upcoming Camry. However, the teaser above does show that Toyota will stuff an all-wheel-drive system underneath the next Camry and give it hybrid power. You can currently get either an all-wheel-drive Camry or a front-wheel-drive Camry hybrid. Now, you’ll be able to have both stuffed into one Camry shell.

Looking at Toyota’s latest Prius, an all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain making its way to the new Camry seemed almost a certainty. However, the transition to the Camry might bump up the Prius AWD’s combined 196 hp.

According to Toyota’s sales figures, people aren’t slowing down on buying the current Camry. Through September of this year, Toyota moved 217,975 examples to new homes in the United States.

According to Wards Intelligence data, the current Camry is significantly outpacing the all-new Honda Accord, which shuffled a respectable 152,202 units for second place in the sales race among midsize sedans through September.

Even though trends are shifting away from sedans, the Camry trails only the company’s RAV4, which moved 302,832 crossovers in the same window.

Judging from the previous teaser, the all-new Camry will also sport interesting signature lightning. But, to see the rest of the car—and read about the full rundown of its spec sheet—you’ll have to check back on November 14.
