South Africa is among the initial markets to witness Jaecoo’s products in the world with the automaker’s market entry facilitated through Omoda and Jaecoo dealerships. Thirty of these are already established while there are plans to expand to 50 dealers by the end of 2024. In a straightforward manner, Tony Liu, executive deputy general manager for Omoda and Jaecoo stated, “Earlier this year, SA was the first country on the African continent to offer the Omoda brand, and our nation is now among the first in the world to welcome Jaecoo. We have big plans for Jaecoo, including the expansion of our dealer network to about 50 by the end of 2024.”

Liu further explained that “Jaecoo” combines the German word “jäger” (meaning “hunter”) and the English term “cool,” reflecting the brand’s focus on outdoor adventure and urbanism. The J7, with a minimalist design language, accommodates five passengers and emphasizes a 14,8-inch vertically positioned touchscreen. While specific luxury specifications remain undisclosed, the vehicle ensures a high level of safety features.

Under the bonnet is a 1,6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out 137 kW of power and 275 N.m of torque, paired to a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV will offer both front and all-wheel-drive options. Notably, it features Jaecoo’s All Road Drive Intelligent System, boasting seven driving modes tailored for specific scenarios.
