Honda's EV journey is off to a rough start. But the plans are already in motion for a smoother future. The Japanese automaker outlined its EV strategy during a conference today, promising to roll out seven models globally by the end of the decade. Developed from the ground up, these new vehicles are part of the 0 Series lineup and will vary in size from small to large.
For the 2024 Swift, Maruti Suzuki has introduced a brand new engine which Suzuki has developed for the new Swift. Besides India, the new Swift is sold with this new engine in Japan and certain European markets. It’s an entirely new naturally aspirated engine that will eventually power other Maruti hatchbacks such as the Baleno and the Fronx. Speaking of power, the maximum power output is around 82bhp with a slightly higher torque figure of 112Nm at 4,500rpm. According to Suzuki, acceleration time from 0-100kmph is improved by 5 per cent to 12.5 seconds for the manual model and 11.9 seconds for the optional CVT.

Unlike other automakers, Toyota hasn't rushed to jump on the EV bandwagon. It has taken shy steps toward pure electric vehicles, deciding instead to focus on hybrids. Mitsubishi might be adding an off-road minivan to its aging lineup. A report published Thursday by Automotive News claims the Japanese automaker is readying a production version of the D.X Concept it revealed last October. The brand's more recent resurgence, led by the latest Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV, which it co-developed with fellow Japanese partner Nissan, first began around the year 2018, says Mitsubishi North America President and CEO Mark Chaffin. «Momentum 2030 will build on that, setting the stage for new powertrains and vehicles being introduced, new dealerships being opened, and new technologies being developed to make the shopping and ownership experience faster, easier and more enjoyable.»
You might not think about Mitsubishi often, but the long-beleaguered make is staging what it hopes will be a comeback here in North America. It's a long shot, I know—but maybe not as long as it sounds. That's because Mitsubishi's next few years will see it launch several new models in the United States, two of which are suggested to be an off-road SUV and its cult-hit Delica van.
