Lexus has unveiled its installation “Time” at Milan Design Week, Italy, marking a departure from conventional automotive luxury. The theme reflects the brand’s belief in the inseparable connection between experience and time, emphasizing a human-centred approach to innovation.

Lexus’ New Steering Technology is No Yoke

The installation envisions a future empowered by technology, where software anticipates and evolves to meet individual needs, while advancing carbon neutrality in luxury mobility. Inspired by the LF-ZC concept model, the exhibit features works by designers Hideki Yoshimoto/Tangent and Marjan van Aubel. Both designers have drawn inspiration from the concept model that explores the possibilities for a next-generation Lexus battery electric vehicle (BEV).

Chief Branding Officer, Simon Humphries, relates that, “Since its inception, Lexus has continually challenged the conventions of automotive luxury, striving to expand the horizons in both products and services to create unique, expectation-surpassing experiences for each customer. The theme of the installation, “Time”, comes from our belief that experience and time are inseparable concepts. Time is not something that simply passes, it’s the starting point of all special experiences. Lexus cherishes a human-centred philosophy, and we believe that providing people with unique experiences in an age where technology will allow cars to anticipate and evolve with the customer, begins with exploring the relationship between people and time itself.”

“Beyond the Horizon” by Hideki Yoshimoto/Tangent explores the personalized experiential value of mobility through interactive sculptures and sound, symbolizing the future of automotive innovation. It blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, using Japanese Echizen washi paper infused with bamboo fibers to illustrate the ever-changing horizon.
