Do note that the China-spec model is called the Tiguan L Pro and comes in a five-seater configuration. Some markets will also get a seven-seat iteration and will use the Tayron nameplate, although it is essentially a stretched version of the five-seater Tiguan revealed in September last year.

  2. Can be ordered with 2WD and 4WD setups
  3. Gets three digital displays, including one for the front passenger

The new Tayron SUV has a lot in common with VW's latest global SUV line-up. The slightly rounded look on the new Tiguan is carried over to the Tayron, and it additionally gets an aggressive-looking front bumper with a contrast black finish for the fascia on the top-spec R variant; regular variants get a slightly less aggressive look.

The Tayron's fascia is near identical to the 5-seater Tiguan.

In profile, the Tayron is very similar to the Tiguan with its blacked-out, flared wheel arches and large glasshouse, but its obviously longer than the latter, with most of the additional length having gone into the wheelbase. The new Tayron is 4,735mm long, 1,859mm wide and 1,682mm high. This makes it 197mm longer, 17mm wider and 43mm taller than the five-seat Tiguan, and the wheelbase is longer by 111mm. At the rear, the Tayron gets a well-sculpted tailgate, wraparound tail lamps with a connecting LED light bar, and a blacked-out rear bumper.
