Handsome Kia Sorento Facelift Revealed At 2023 LA Auto Show

Kia is making a splash at the 2023 LA Auto Show by introducing the facelifted 2024 Kia Sorento alongside a pair of electric concept cars.

As one of Kia's best-selling cars, this update is significant for the brand. The family SUV will be offered in five distinctive trims — LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-P — with the EX and SX-P available with the X-Line and X-Pro packages, respectively.

Before discussing the X-Line and X-Pro packages, let's look at the available powertrains for the 2024 Sorento.

The base LX and S grades are fitted with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that produces 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, sent to the drive wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Should you require more muscle under the hood, plusher trims — including the X-Line and X-Pro — receive a turbocharged 2.5-liter with outputs totaling 281 hp and 311 lb-ft. Instead of a torque converter, the more powerful model receives an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Front-wheel drive is standard on certain trims, but AWD can be specified at extra cost. The more rugged X-Line and X-Pro trims receive standard AWD with a center-locking differential that equally distributes power between the front and rear wheels.

Hybrid and PHEV variants will reach Kia dealerships sometime in 2025. Expect details to follow in the coming months.

Even though Kia unveiled the revised SUV earlier this year, it's the first time we have seen the US-spec Sorento. It's a handsome machine, with the «Opposites United» design ethos lending the front end a more rugged yet upmarket look. The new headlights and grille are reminiscent of the EV9 electric SUV, and Kia has adopted the Telluride's beloved amber daytime running lights, giving the Sorento a distinctive look.

Available colors for the US market include Midnight Lake Blue and Dawning Red, while the electrified versions will receive an exclusive Dust Blue interior finish.

In the cabin, Kia has redesigned the dashboard with an upmarket look, with tasteful air vents and new HVAC controls. A panoramic curved display is also available, integrating two 12.3-inch screens under a single panel.

The X-Line builds on the Sorento's handsome looks, injecting some
