Ford Mustang Dark Horse Build For Charity Gets Prototype Carbon Fiber Upgrades

For those who have a love for both carbon fiber and the Ford Mustang, this Dark Horse build might be up your alley. Initially appearing at the 2023 SEMA Show, the car in question was built by Middleton Motorsports from Wisconsin, and it is brimming with carbon fiber bits.

On the outside, this build incorporates carbon fiber bits from Ford Performance and Anderson Composites. Interestingly, some of these are not yet available commercially. This is common among aftermarket tuners, as newly formed parts do not always fit perfectly and can sometimes present issues during installation that the fabricators may overlook. Sending out pre-sale items helps increase hype and helps avoid customer complaints down the line.

Specifically, the Mustang Dark Horse build gets a full carbon fiber hood, a carbon fiber rear decklid, a carbon fiber rear wing, a carbon fiber front lip, and carbon fiber side mirror covers. Running gear includes a set of ForgeStar 19x11 wheels wrapped in Michelin 315/30 Pilot Sport 2s.

Overall, the car doesn't exactly go overboard with carbon fiber, but it does provide a lot of personality to the already sharp-looking version of the S650 'Stang.

Very soon, Anderson Composites intends to release a hood and fender combo inspired by the insane Mustang GTD, and that will definitely help the Dark Horse stand out.

The interior of this ride was also upgraded with custom leather from Katzkins. It doesn't get much for mechanical mods, but it sports a MagnaFlow exhaust system.

The Mustang Dark Horse is quite a potent ride from the get-go. Its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8 can output up to 500 horsepower in stock form. Driver involvement is likewise enhanced thanks to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The build looks awesome, but the best part is that one can win this exact same ride. It is currently listed on the Cruise for a Cause — a cancer charity non-profit organization, as a prize for its October 5, 2024 raffle draw. Entries to this can be gained by making donations until September 29, 2024.
