First details of Lamborghini Huracan successor due in March

The plug-in hybrid replacement for the Lamborghini Huracan supercar is due to be unveiled in the second half of this year, the company has confirmed.

The first details of the new model are due in March, when it is expected Lamborghini will confirm reports the 5.2-litre V10 will be dropped in favour of a twin-turbo V8 with hybrid assistance.

«From March we will have the first contents as a teaser – already technical [details]. And… in the second half of the year is the world premiere,» a Lamborghini executive told a group of Australian media including Drive.

Lamborghini refuses to confirm if the V10 will live on in the new model, however reports point to a bespoke V8 engine – aided by plug-in hybrid technology – not related to the 4.0-litre twin-turbo unit in Audi and Porsche models.

Company CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Australian media production of the Huracan is on track to end this year, with all examples yet to be built already sold out.

Spy photos show the Huracan successor will draw inspiration from the larger Revuelto, the replacement for the Aventador with V12 plug-in hybrid power.
