Another year of motorsport has flown by, and 2023 was as action-packed as ever.
Since 2017, F1 drivers have exchanged good-natured (and often hilarious) secret Santa gifts with one another. This year’s reveal video of the results went live you YouTube just a few days ago, and it has already hit 1.7 million views. Here’s one spoiler: photos of driver Valtteri Bottas' naked butt makes a cameo appearance in more than one exchange.
After finishing the 2023 F1 season with a historic 1-2 position, three-time F1 champ Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are undisputable kinds of the asphalt. But can the Red Bull Racing drivers handle automobiles beyond circuits?
Okay, it’s a weird record, but it’s easy enough to imagine how the idea came about. Pit stops are a crucial part of Formula 1, and shaving tenths off a car’s stationary time can mean the difference between winning and losing, which is why F1 teams practice them over and over again.
The 2023Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ended the way 18 other races ended this season, with Red Bull'sMax Verstappen ahead of everyone else. The Dutchman took home his 19th win in the season's finale, finishing with the record for most wins in a season and the consecutive win record. Since Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez already had first and second place in the drivers' championship locked up, respectively, and Red Bull already clinched the constructors' championship, everyone else was fighting for second and third place.
I love talking to racing drivers because they are super animated with their hands, always turning invisible steering wheels and whatnot. I also love the sounds they make. I once talked to Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen, and the noises he made of turbo spooling up and the rear tires spinning because the track was wet was simply comedy gold. As you can imagine, Formula 1 drivers aren't far off.
This weekend saw the final race of the 2023 F1 season occur in Abu Dhabi. While the race itself had a few bright moments, it was ultimately pretty dull (especially compared to the 2021 season finale), with Verstappen securing yet another victory, Charles Leclerc finishing second, and George Russell in third after a five-second penalty was given to Sergio Perez for pulling a Ford Mustang at a Cars and Coffee and plowing right into Lando Norris (who finished fifth).
Although Max Verstappen clinched his third straight Formula One title almost two months ago at the Qatar GP there was never any chance of him easing up.
