Fisker has paused development of its affordable compact EV, the Pear, amid talks with an unnamed car maker for investment into the cash-strapped company.
On a typically sunny day in Los Angeles last June, Henrik Fisker choked up as he handed over his company's first all-electric SUVs in the United States. «I'm really kind of emotional about it, because we've been waiting two-and-a-half years for this, and everyone here has done a tremendous job,» the founder and CEO said.
Fisker has signed off the design and engineering of its crucial new entry-level EV, the Pear, as it ramps up towards putting the innovative six-seat hatchback into production on both sides of the Atlantic.
Fisker ended 2023 well, with quadrupling sales in the fourth quarter of the year, and it wants to keep that momentum going in 2024 with a new, special edition model that pushes the limits of luxuriousness from the electric crossover.The automaker has teased us with the first hints of the Fisker Ocean Extreme Monterey Edition model. Set to be the most premium offering in the vehicle’s lineup, the company’s founder, Henrik Fisker, says that the model was conceived of in response to customer demand.The improvements start outside, with a new paint option called Sun Soaked. Fisker will introduce a new limited trim level for the Ocean called the Extreme Monterey Edition, targeting car buyers who want an even more luxurious package from the midsize electric crossover. The new trim variant will arrive in the second half of this year.
Just like Tesla, Fisker has relied on online sales and a chain of company-operated stores, preferring the sleek interiors reminiscent of Apple stores with trained staff to the traditional dealership model. The company has opened a flagship Fisker Lounge at The Grove in LA, an upscale shopping center, opened a second Lounge in New York, while also opening Center+ locations in a number of countries in western Europe. Fisker also maintains fulfillment centers where buyers, after having ordered their cars online, can pick up their vehicles or have an employee drive their car to their house instead of having it delivered on a carrier.
