Audi has created history at Dakar by winning the 2024 rally raid with Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz behind the wheel of the Audi RS Q e-tron. This marks the first time the German automaker has won at the iconic motorsport event, and with this also heralds a new era in motorsport as the Audi RS Q e-tron is the first car to be powered by an electrified powertrain.
Finally, after three grueling attempts, Audi has won the 2024 Dakar Rally with the RS Q e-tron, thanks to the Spanish pair of driver Carlos Sainz and navigator Lucas Cruz. This also marks the very first time that a vehicle with an electric drivetrain has won the event, specifically a low-emission prototype with an electric drive, a high-voltage battery, and an energy converter.
Wednesday’s fifth stage of Dakar 2024, a 645 km trip in the Saudi Arabian desert of which just 118 km was a timed special, saw defending champion Nasser Al-Attiyah finish first. The five-time Dakar winner finished ahead of a quartet of Overdrive Racing Hiluxes.
