2025 Toyota 4Runner Teased on Social Media

  • Toyota is teasing the next-generation 4Runner on its social media channels.
  • The current-generation 4Runner launched long ago—in 2009.
  • The 2024 Toyota 4Runner currently starts at $42,100.

On the heels of the new Tacoma, Tundra, and upcoming Land Cruiser’s revival, it’s not exactly been a secret that Toyota was cooking up a next-generation 4Runner. Well, Toyota showed off the sixth-generation 4Runner on its Instagram page and revealed a revised badging convention.

Other than the rear bumper, hatch, and name, Toyota didn’t reveal anything about the 4Runner. But if you have been following Toyota’s body-on-frame products over the past few years, you have an idea of what to expect from the next 4Runner.

Considering there is only one body-on-frame platform, it’s likely this 4Runner will ride on the TNGA-F platform.

This platform underpins the latest Sequoia, Tundra, and Tacoma. You’ll also find this platform underneath the Lexus GX and LX models, as well as the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser. That means we can expect to see some of the same changes heading to the 4Runner that we’ve seen with the aforementioned models.

That likely means the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V6 is going away and will be replaced with either the 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and the 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain options found in the Tacoma, or possibly the turbocharged 3.4-liter V6. It’s more likely the 2.4-liter mills will find their way under the 4Runner’s hood.

Expect the 4Runner to get all of the latest tech seen in these TNGA-F vehicles, too. That should be welcome news for folks who find their current 4Runner feeling dated on the inside.

With the teaser in the open, we can also expect to see more Toyota 4Runner news coming soon. We probably won’t get a price until the latest 4Runner starts rolling off assembly lines. But count on a bump over the current $42,100 base price.

What do you expect from the next-gen 4Runner? Tell us your thoughts below.
