2025 Suzuki eVX SUV: Electric Vitara successor imagined

It could also replace the S-Cross, but head of design Takasha Maeda told Wheels the eVX is inspired by more rugged model names such as Jimny and Vitara, hence our prediction it could wear Vitara badges when it comes to market in 2025.

Rendering Guru Theottle [↗] has gently softened some of Suzuki's wilder details and bestowed the all-electric SUV imagination with a more conventional front end and lighting features than the concept.

Maeda-san said the eVX concept previews an exclusively electric vehicle for global markets with no provisions for combustion powertrains.

With a projected 500km driving range, the electric eVX will play a key role in getting Suzuki to hit its target of 20 per cent electric sales by 2030.

It is, however, likely to be joined by a similarly-sized SUV that uses hybrid or petrol engines to satisfy less EV-friendly markets in which Suzuki is a key player.

Inside, the concept debuts a new design language for Suzuki, with an integrated touchscreen and digital driver's display floating above the flat dash.

Between the two front seats is a floating, buttonless centre console with a shift-by-wire crystal glass dial with a rhinoceros insignia as a hint at the EV's off-road capability.

Suzuki has provided a glimpse at its upcoming global electric SUV at the 2023 Delhi Auto Show in India.

The model, due from 2025, was previewed by a new concept – the eVX – sized in line with the current S-Cross small SUV.

While the Japanese brand has provided little detail, it will offer a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and the «advanced features of the latest [battery electric vehicles]».

«The eVX is an all-electric concept SUV derived out of Suzuki’s first global strategic EV. It is scheduled to be introduced to the market by 2025,» said Suzuki.

This confirms the model will be offered outside India, which is the brand's largest market with several unique vehicles, including the not-for-Australia Grand Vitara.

Under the skin, the eVX concept utilises a 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allowing for a 550-kilometre driving range on India's MIDC test cycle.

It measures 4300 millimetres long, 1800mm
