2018-2023 Jaguar I-Pace electric car recalled for fire risk

A fire risk has triggered a recall of the Jaguar I-Pace electric car in Australia.

The five affected vehicles are stamped Model Years 2018 to 2023.

“Due to a software issue, some vehicles may experience a thermal overload. If this occurs, vehicle occupants may identify smoke or fire emanating from underneath the vehicle,” the recall notice says.

“A vehicle fire may increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders, and/or damage to property.

“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted directly by their Jaguar Land Rover retailer to arrange a software update, free of charge.”

Drive has contacted Jaguar Land Rover Australia to find out if vehicles have been impacted locally. This story will be updated with its response.

A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the five vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.
